A former MP, Adam Holloway, has sparked controversy by planting the Chagossian flag on a remote island beach, defiantly opposing Labour leader Keir Starmer's 'surrender deal' over the Chagos Islands. This bold move, captured on video, marks a significant challenge to the UK government's agreement to hand over the islands to Mauritius, a move that has raised national security concerns. The former British Army officer, who served as a Captain in the Grenadier Guards, sailed through a British-imposed exclusion zone to reach Île du Coin, accompanied by a group of Chagos Islanders determined to establish a settlement there. The Chagossian flag was raised, and the group shouted 'God save the King!'. Mr. Holloway, a former Tory MP who switched to the Reform Party, is a fierce critic of the deal, branding it 'crazy' and accusing the government of handing over billions to 'corrupt politicians in Mauritius' instead of investing in British defense. The Conservatives have welcomed the landing, with Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel accusing Sir Keir of betraying Britain.
