Rooms

Having been born in Clarksdale but raised in Tallahatchie County on a farm, Magical Madge has vivid memories of her trips to the Delta town with her mother. Invariably, they would drive down the main boulevard, West Second Street, where all the big, pretty houses were located. Madge would crane her neck every single time looking for that amazing home on the corner with the huge carport. She imagined what it would be like if she could go inside.

In 2010, her dream became a reality when Magical Madge and Chilly Billy Howell had the opportunity to purchase what was known as the Wegener home, and now lovingly called The Clarksdale White House. (CWH)

After most of their five children had grown and moved away, the couple decided to convert their primary residence into a B & B of sorts. Having already converted the back Guest House into an overnight accommodation in 2012, they began renting out three of the large bedrooms in the CWH, each with a private bath, to visitors from all over the world.

It gives Madge great pleasure to connect with her guests, ensuring their positive experience while staying in Clarksdale. Providing guests with clean, large and private accommodations with a personal touch of Southern hospitality and character from Madge, sets stays in the Clarksdale White House apart from any other place.

Honey Room

Staying in The Honey Room will make you feel like you are in a cocoon of tranquility.

The spacious room is enveloped with ochre-honey velvet curtains, a king-size Tempur-pedic bed, soft down pillows, a luxurious couch and sitting area, a large brass chandelier, tasteful and eclectic décor, huge closets plus a private bathroom that will meet all your needs and then some.

Ochre is Madge’s favorite color and you will see her wearing it often. She decided to christen the main master bedroom as The Honey Room for many reasons.

Magical Madge is partial to the name “Honey.” Her namesake grandmother, Madge Saunders Thornton, was lovingly called “Honey” and now that Magical is a grandmother-to-be, she too will adopt the same term of endearment for her grandchildren.

The Honey Room provides divine bliss in a space you will long remember.

The Treetop Room boasts 16 windows and sits high on the back of the Clarksdale White House overlooking the tranquil and private back yard garden. Guests can either choose to open the curtains and let the light in or keep them closed and snuggle into the queen-size sleigh bed, the greatest mattress in the world according to many.

East Room

The East Room on the East side of the Clarksdale White House is expansive and cheery with an abundance of light.

Red is the featured décor coloration, beautifully enhanced by the large, original watercolor by John Ruskey called “Heart of the Mississippi Delta.” The Town of Clarksdale is designated with a splash of crimson as are other significant Delta towns: Cleveland, Rosedale, Greenville, Indianola, Greenwood, Helena and Tunica.

The sumptuous red lounge chair located bedside is a spot worthy of luxuriation. Bookcases filled with books proffer literary options should one feel so inclined.

Immediately outside the great East Room, guests find their splendid private bathroom, neatly hidden behind a large, wicker privacy screen.

Space abounds for guests whiling away in The East Room.
